Overview

Experience an unforgettable summer at Worth School in West Sussex, England, where young adventurers combine English learning with outdoor challenges. This residential programme welcomes students with English levels from A1 to C1, helping them grow confidence, independence, and practical skills.


Core English lessons enhance reading, writing, speaking, and listening, while Focus Adventure lessons build communication and self-confidence through activities like bushcraft, tent building, nature walks, orienteering, and survival skills.

Wednesday afternoons are spent at an outdoor activity centre with kayaking, raft building, rock climbing, ziplining, and gladiator challenges.


Core English
English language lessons are designed to improve students’ receptive and productive skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening), extend the scope and range of their vocabulary in both formal and informal contexts and deepen their understanding of grammar to improve spoken and written accuracy.


Focus Adventure
These lessons are designed to improve students’ English and at the same time, stimulate their appetite for and sense of adventure, helping them to build their communication skills and self-confidence through a range of different practical outdoor activities. Focus Adventure lessons may include:
• Bush craft activities
• Erecting a tent
• Nature walk
• Orienteering
• Outdoor activity centre visit
• Survival skills
• Tying knots
Students visit an outdoor activity centre on Wednesday afternoons to take part in various adventure activities. Examples of activities include:
• Kayaking
• Raft building
• Ziplining
• Rock climbing
• Gladiator Challenge


Learning and Innovation
These task-based lessons enable students to work collaboratively to research, discuss and create projects that reflect their knowledge, skills, and personality while developing strategies that are essential for success in the 21st century. The projects have been specially created to help develop the students’ capabilities in each of the 4Cs that form the core of the 21st century learning curriculum: Collaboration, Communication, Creativity, and Critical Thinking.

Accommodation
Boys and girls sleep in suitable boarding accommodation on campus. Single and shared bedrooms are available. Some bedrooms are en-suite with private bathroom. Students who share their bedroom are placed with children of the same sex and of a similar age.


Meals
The menu offers a mix of English and international food. Vegetarian and special diets for medical or religious needs are accommodated.

Students aged 12–18 are eligible to enroll.

Do I need to speak English fluently?

No. The course welcomes students from A2 Elementary to C2 Proficient levels, including native speakers.

What football level is required?

Students should have previous football experience, whether in school teams, local clubs, or regional/national competitions.

Who delivers the coaching?

All sessions are led by FA & UEFA-qualified coaches from Spurs Football Development, with a maximum 1:15 coach-to-player ratio.

How many hours of training are included?

The course offers 30 hours per week, including technical training, strength & conditioning, and workshops.

Are there English lessons?

Yes, English for competitive sport is included in workshops, helping students improve communication and understanding in a football context.

What is the accommodation like?

Students stay in same-sex shared boarding rooms on campus, with shared bathrooms and full meal plans accommodating dietary needs.

Are airport transfers included?

Yes, transfers from London Heathrow or Gatwick are arranged and included in the course price.

What extracurricular activities are offered?

Students enjoy evening social events, cultural excursions, integration activities, and supervised time in Uppingham town.

Is this programme good for university and college applications?

What is the deadline to register my child?

The main deadline is 1st May. You can still request availability up to 1st June, but spots may be limited. Please contact us to confirm availability.

My child is slightly younger than the published age range for a particular course. Is that ok?

It is not possible. All students must be within the published age range on arrival to maintain consistency with course information.
